The RSPB team doing the gps tracking at Bempton have sent me some preliminary maps of tracks from three Kittiwakes showing their feeding routines. Ellie Owen explained:
Attached are a couple of the GPS tracks from this year, just for interest. The birds were remarkably consistent in their feeding locations and there was no return to the dogger bank feeding behaviour that Mark found in the first year of the study, which is very interesting! Each map is one bird over 2 or 3 days.
The birds are ringed using EYRG rings but this year it was hampered by tides and weather with anti social hours affecting when the birds could be ringed.
