Ringing Week 2013
Ringing updatesPosted by eyrg.co.uk Tue, August 20, 2013 07:53:35Yorkshire Coast Ringing Week – East Yorkshire Ringing Group
This year the event will take place from Saturday 19th October to Saturday 26th October.
In co-operation with Filey Brigg Ornithological Group Bird Observatory and Flamborough Bird Observatory, we hope to have a number of sites operational on a dawn to dusk basis monitoring bird migration, with the onus on ageing and sexing and any racial differentiation.
The main site at Filey will be the top scrub on the Filey Country Park, with a second site (if birds and staffing permits) at Parish Wood. Flamborough have a number of sites that could be available during the week and will be announced nearer the date. Other sites may also be operated during the week when staffing is available.
Come and take part in this annual event and watch ringing demonstrations and see the displays of data collected. Visitors are welcome to watch the ringing of the birds and there will be information available on the BTO ringing scheme and survival and migration of local birds.
Visiting ringers (including trainees) can also join in if they have their permits with them and there will be a small donation towards groups’ activities.
